“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
He’s pretty smart, the bloke who wrote the proverb above. And, he’s absolutely right. To put it more bluntly though, “Screw up training a child: and when he is old, he will be screwed up.”
Hi, my name is Ben Bartlett and I’m the creator of the Champions of Life website, which is dedicated to training up a child "in the way he should go."
More specifically, this site provides resources, tips and guidelines to help parents, coaches and sports administrators to more effectively teach kids – through sport – the life skills and values they need to be productive, responsible and high-performing adults.
So what are life skills and why are they important? According to UNESCO, “Life skills are a group of cognitive, personal and interpersonal abilities that help people make informed decisions, solve problems, think critically and creatively, communicate effectively, build healthy relationships, empathize with others, and cope with and manage their lives in a healthy and productive manner.” (Source: UNESCO website).
For sports coaches you will learn the most effective ways to coach kids based on up-to-date research, as well as best practice.
